- PRECIOUS TIME AT NO BOUNDS RADIO

Literary initiative @noboundsradio broadcasted Zazie Stevens' "Precious Time", a 30 min meditative soundpiece (headphones highly recommended).
“The idea was to melt together sensory and mental experiences into one layer. They co-exist but are inevitably divided into external and internal. The sensory experience of a scent or a sound entering your body as you turn a corner irl, transporting you back to a different moment, transporting you to an idea, sparking a snakelike chain of thought as your legs continue to walk. The constant shifting between being present and drifting away, between abiding in the body or in the mind. To what extent do we control this dance? Especially the mind in love knows how to use the body as a hyper-sensory travel device. I felt the desire to go along with that for a while and to capture it.” A 30 min guided walk through NYC and the mind in love, meditating on plants, the heart, and dizziness while reading Barthes in the dark. from 3:42:10

"... by highlighting both clarity and obscurations Zazie Stevens investigates perception. Through her poetic practice of documenting she looks at the knowledge of image, language, the sensory and their ecologies - resulting in intimate documents, objects and meetings. In her thesis sits a key phrase; "How to create contemplative work that is not austere. How to strip things down to their essence without removing the poetry."  By taking the role of curator or dramaturge of her own content; demonstrating her possibilities, she suggests a counter stance in a saturated world with limited attention span."

- James Beckett 2016
